Member Activities

At Naples Islands Garden Club, member activities unite volunteers in enhancing the community. From gardening and maintenance to hosting local traditions, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to beauty and connection.

Planting a Tree

Arbor Day

We recognize Arbor Day annually with a dual purpose: a tribute to Club members and their families who have had loved ones pass during the previous year and the planting of trees. NIGC works with the Principal and Student Council of Naples Elementary School to plan the ceremony and select an area at the school for planting of memorial trees, shrubs, and flowers. Touched with sadness and humor, families and friends share heartwarming stories of their loved ones in this beautiful event.

 Flower Festival

Excursions

Destination known!  When the opportunity presents itself to visit a flower-themed location or event, members are asked for a show of interest. If enough are interested, the chairman will then go ahead with making plans through a travel agency. In the past, great times have been had visiting New Orleans; the Chelsea Flower Show, London; and Butchart Gardens, Victoria. What a wonderful way to create close friendships and to experience the magic of masses of flowers in beautiful gardens.

Horticulture

At NIGC, horticulture is the art of cultivating plants to beautify spaces like Naples Elementary School, La Bella Fontana Park, Naples Plaza Median, and 2nd Street planters through tending trees, hedges, and roses. Beyond growing plants, it fosters environmental improvement, scholarships, and community connection, uniting members in shared learning and the joy of nurturing nature to keep Naples Islands beautiful.

Luminaria Night

In December, the glow of candles and the sound of music brightens up the night sky at La Bella Fontana Park. Naples residents enjoy beautiful Christmas songs performed by the Warren High School choir as the community sings along.

Veterans Day

The Veterans Day celebration takes place at the Colonnade Flagpole at the historic Bella Fontana Park. A floral wreath is placed to honor our local Veterans assisted by the local Boy Scout troop #105. The day features a heartfelt ceremony paying tribute to those who served within our community.
