“A Journey Into the Heart of Valentine’s "

Who could be a more appropriate guest speaker for our Valentine’s Day NIGC Meeting than Dr. Morton Kern, Chief of Cardiology at VA Long Beach Healthcare System and Professor of Medicine at UC Irvine? His presentation was informative and entertaining, opening with a brief history of Valentine’s Day. Using colorful illustrations he then described the different types of heart disease, causes, symptoms, treatments and prevention. Dr Kern performs and teaches regionally, nationally and internationally, and holds numerous international fellowships. He has authored major textbooks, some of which are still widely used today to teach physicians. As impressive as Dr. Kern’s career is, the best part is that he is married to our very own Margaret Dineen Kern!
