Arbor Day 2025

On March 11th, President Linda Frame of the Naples Islands Garden Club paid tribute to members and their immediate family members who passed away in 2024. We continue this meaningful tradition by planting myrtle trees in the parkway in front of Naples Elementary School to honor our members. Along with these plantings, an annual donation is made to the Penny Pines Project to aid in the restoration of devastated forest areas.

The Garden Club’s Arbor Day Co-Chairs, Sherry Yanagisawa and Barbara Jordan, along with their dedicated committee, organized a heartfelt program in coordination with the school principal, Mrs. Paula Spenker. Following the students’ readings of poems, family members shared touching memories of their loved ones. An Orchid plant, donated by Trader Joe's, was given to each family member.

Due to rain, this years’ service was held in the auditorium instead of outdoors, where it would have been surrounded by the well-tended garden, which had been specially spruced up for the event. Club members, wearing their signature red aprons, maintain the school’s landscape monthly by pulling weeds, trimming bushes, raking leaves, and watering the crepe myrtles.
