February Program
February 10th NIGC Meeting and Presentations
The February 2025 meeting presenter was Sandra Feaster, retired RN, and currently a health consultant, trainer, and blogger on health and fitness. She gave a very enlightening presentation entitled “Growing your Garden of Wellness”. She emphasized taking care of your health by “planting small habits” is very similar to planting a garden, you need to Nourish Your Garden (Body), Growing Stronger (Movement), Cultivating Peace (Mind and Spirit), Growing Connections (Heart).
NIGC Members were treated by a return visit from Launa Gould, District Director of Orange County Garden Club. Launa, not only serves as OC Director but keeps very busy volunteering on other committees: Administrative Directory, Budget and Finance, Liability Insurance, and the 2025 Convention. She encouraged members to attend the 2025 CGCI Convention on June 2nd-4th at VOCE Laguna Hills as well as inviting us to an Orange County District meeting on March 31st at Sherman Gardens. Launa will be retiring from her position as OC Director this year but we hope she will still return to visit us soon.
NIGC members had a surprise visitor, Micayla Hughey, speak to us about her Eagle Scout Project for African Sisterhood which is a non-profit organization in Kenya. It is the objective of this organization to provide young women with opportunities to grow educationally as well as support their needs as young women. Micayla’s Eagle Scout project is to sew 360 washable menstruation pads with a kit for fifty underprivileged young women in Kenya. She is asking for assistance in preparing the kits or donating to a Go Fund Me that has been established for this project. Mikayla’s email address is mr.hughey07@gmail.com if you have any questions.
